Valtellina Wine Tour

The history of the winery began in the 19th century with Pietro, the founder of the winery and the first family member to embark on the path of viticulture: Pietro produced wine and marketed it in neighboring Switzerland through Valposchiavo. His descendants, Leone and Gianfranco, dedicated themselves to the development of the business, taking care of production and marketing, gradually refining the winemaking process and expanding production spaces. In 2000, Paolo brought the winery to assume the modern imprint that distinguishes it today, thanks to the introduction of new technologies and innovative winemaking practices for the production of increasingly high-quality wines. The fifth generation, represented by the brothers Luca and Matteo, who are already working passionately in the winery, is already a guarantee for the future of the company, which will see the family still a protagonist in the wine landscape, in continuity with its century-old tradition. Valtellina is a land of ancient wine history and this winery has deep roots in it for over a century. The vineyards, 6 hectares of own land plus selected external providers, are located among the terraced vineyards of Teglio, in the Sassella and Grumello areas. The work in the vineyard, guided by the principles of sustainable agriculture, represents the starting point for the quality of the wines and leverages two elements that the long-standing family winemaking tradition has taught to harness: nature and time. The wines come from Nebbiolo grapes, the typical grape of Valtellina, locally known as Chiavennasca, and range through the red types of the Red of Valtellina DOC, Valtellina Superiore DOCG, and Sforzato of Valtellina DOCG denominations. The wines mature slowly, for years and, in some cases, decades, in wood and glass: the historical premises, characterized by the ancient stone vaults.
