Our history dates back to the distant 1536. Inspired by the sweet landscapes of Lake Garda, Mr. Bortolo prunes, harvests, vinifies, passing on his passion to his children and grandchildren. Since then, 13 generations have followed without interruption, carefully guarding the family's secrets and traditions. Our company manages 40 hectares of vineyards; those located in the Lazise area and those located in the municipalities of Verona. We cultivate them with the row system, which guarantees high-quality grapes.
To produce quality wines, we use various techniques, in pruning and watering, which lead the vineyard to produce lower quantities of grapes, but with much higher quality characteristics. To make great wines you need three ingredients: the land, technology, and people. Today, two families continue this tradition with the same enthusiasm.

Our winery is located at the foot of Monte Orfano and develops with owned vineyards between the locations of Cologne, Provaglio d’Iseo, Passirano, and Cazzago San Martino. This diversification between colluvial graded lands and the majestic morainic Franciacortino amphitheater gives the grapes a unique level of complexity. Uniqueness that is also found in the magnificent setting of Monte Orfano that houses the winery and preserves an ancient history that speaks of geological peculiarities and the deep bond that ties the territory and the population. Our wines have in common respect for biodiversity, which combined with the passion and experience of the owners and collaborators of the winery, makes our production an ever-evolving adventure. Among the projects is the Franciacorta DOCG line in the Brut and Satèn versions. Air-conditioned spaces at different temperatures allow white wines, red wines, and Franciacorta DOCG to be refined under optimal conditions, in French oak barriques. Furthermore, in the winery, new systems have been installed for the processing of high-quality grapes.

Our philosophy is to create a quality wine, produced respecting the vine and the natural winemaking times, recovering traditional production methods. The Winery originates from an ambitious idea: to bring the vineyard back to the morainic hills of our farm. Ancient prints and cadastral maps bear witness to a tradition that recognizes the viticultural vocation of this rocky and water-poor land. The production philosophy is based on a fundamental principle: wine making starts in the vineyard, responding without fixed schemes to the climatic events of the vintage with the attention and wisdom of our peasant tradition. Hand harvesting of grape bunches, from August to November, and fermentation by gravity represent the two pillars of our production method. 

 We took our first steps in 2000 looking at the characteristics and microclimate of the morainic hills, south of Lake Garda: from there we started selecting the seedlings, deciding the number of plants per hectare and the vine training system. Trebbiano di Lugana or Turbiana, Sauvignon, Riesling, Chardonnay, and Incrocio Manzoni are the grape varieties of our white wines. Rebo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon represent the types of our red grapes.

Today Gianenrico, with passion and entrepreneurial dynamism, continues the family wine production history by creating quality products in the vineyards, even before the barrels, in absolute respect of the environment and with a constant focus on quality and innovation. \"Quality wine is born in the vineyard\": with this philosophy, 30 hectares of vineyards were planted and managed by the company, knowing the land, the microclimate, and the needs of our vines. We have realized a new conception cellar; since the design phase (2012), we have researched and used eco-compatible materials respecting the environment. Gardens and shelves have been positioned to cover the winemaking area (underground) to maintain temperatures throughout the year. To reduce environmental impact and use the principle of falling grapes, the entire winemaking area was excavated seven meters below ground level. The winery combines tradition and innovation, in 2015 we were chosen as Lombardy's testimonial at EXPO 2015. Advanced production settlement completely underground using the falling principle. Winery section dedicated to the State University of Milan for research and development of Pinot Noir with micro and meso vinifications and a didactic-experimental vineyard. With IULM University, we created a neuro-marketing laboratory for the communication and promotion of our wines. Excavation for soil and root apparatus stratigraphic studies. The history of the winery began in the 19th century with Pietro, the founder of the winery and the first family member to embark on the path of viticulture: Pietro produced wine and marketed it in neighboring Switzerland through Valposchiavo. His descendants, Leone and Gianfranco, dedicated themselves to the development of the business, taking care of production and marketing, gradually refining the winemaking process and expanding production spaces. In 2000, Paolo brought the winery to assume the modern imprint that distinguishes it today, thanks to the introduction of new technologies and innovative winemaking practices for the production of increasingly high-quality wines. The fifth generation, represented by the brothers Luca and Matteo, who are already working passionately in the winery, is already a guarantee for the future of the company, which will see the family still a protagonist in the wine landscape, in continuity with its century-old tradition.  Valtellina is a land of ancient wine history and this winery has deep roots in it for over a century. The vineyards, 6 hectares of own land plus selected external providers, are located among the terraced vineyards of Teglio, in the Sassella and Grumello areas. The work in the vineyard, guided by the principles of sustainable agriculture, represents the starting point for the quality of the wines and leverages two elements that the long-standing family winemaking tradition has taught to harness: nature and time. The wines come from Nebbiolo grapes, the typical grape of Valtellina, locally known as Chiavennasca, and range through the red types of the Red of Valtellina DOC, Valtellina Superiore DOCG, and Sforzato of Valtellina DOCG denominations. The wines mature slowly, for years and, in some cases, decades, in wood and glass: the historical premises, characterized by the ancient stone vaults.

The family has been devoted to viticulture since the second half of the 19th century. The family-run company was later founded around the early 1990s by the brothers Oliviero and Giuseppe. It is with them that the first D.O.C. and D.O.C.G. bottles were born. The peculiarity of this small reality, located in the heart of Franciacorta (an area where the curious visitor can still discover the traces left by the extraordinary work of the Monks during the Middle Ages), is found in the passion and dedication with which the Estate takes care of its vineyards, using substances of natural origin, and produces its wines, which benefit from a minimum aging period on the lees of 30 months. The Winery has a welcoming tasting room. All the visits and tastings offered will be carried out in full compliance with safety regulations.
