The Estate is located on the wooded hills to the Northeast of Florence, in the heart of "Chianti Rufina," a renowned wine region since the Renaissance. The first historical evidence of the wines of today's Chianti Rufina dates back to the early 15th century. In the 17th century, the de' Medici family identified a particular aptitude in this area for producing great wines. For this reason, this vineyard area was included in the Wine Ban issued in 1716 by Cosimo III de' Medici along with the area of Greve (today's Chianti Classico), Carmignano, and the hills of upper Arezzo. The winery cellars are partly located underground of the Villa and partly under the park's shade of the centuries-old trees. These are characterized by alternating rooms with barrel vaults and cross vaults with floors in Pietra Serena or terracotta. The company's philosophy is precisely the maintenance of the centuries-old environment and its traditions of high quality. The red wines, after appropriate aging in numerous oak barrels and barriques, are refined in the bottle. The Estate produces approximately 800/900 hl of wine including Chianti Rufina, SuperTuscan, Bianco dei Colli dell'Etruria Centrale, Rosato dei Colli della Toscana Centrale, Vin Santo del Chianti Rufina, and even Grappa. The company's lands are a mix of clays and interspersed galestri, which are particularly suitable for the cultivation of vines and olives.
