The first official trace of the family's winemaking tradition dates back to February 1, 1816, when Filippo, passing away, left the following properties to his children: “the beneficial ownership, that is the above-ground of two vineyard lands, one in Frascati, in the Roman countryside, in the district known as San Matteo, and the other in the territory of Grottaferrata in the district known as La Pedica.”. Thus begins a long tradition, which was severely tested in the 70s, as several hectares were expropriated from the family in view of the construction of the large university campus in the Tor Vergata area. But it is the passion that drives men to accomplish feats and achieve results. And it was the passion for tradition and quality that convinced Luigi and his family to restart a winery in the vineyard in Frascati in 2009, thus beginning a new but ancient story. The very ancient winemaking vocation of these lands, widely documented since the Etrusco-Roman age, and the desire to enhance this territory, drive the family to restart the ancient family business through the production of organic wines. The company now cultivates about 40 hectares in Frascati, a few km from Rome, in the foothill area called Pietra Porzia, so named because it is inhabited by the ancient “Gens Portia”, and where in 496 BC the famous battle of “Lago Regillo” between the Romans and the Latin League took place.
